Featuring: Mostly shit from not 2021
Welcome, friends, to a (probably) short lived series where I briefly talk about the trash I’m watching at any given time. How wonderful.
Catching Up

Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear
This was what I knew it was going to be going. It’s just a really, really, really, really dumb isekai series. But it’s cute, so, whatever I guess.
The twist for this generic isekai being, instead of some random dude who gets reincarnated into some world of computer games, it’s a random girl who gets transferred (no death required) instead. She has no friends, dropped out of school, and plays the stock market all day while grinding out her life in a virtual reality MMORPG.
The more that I think about it, the more relatable this is ending up.
Verdict: I dunno, watch it if you’re bored or whatever

Goblin Slayer
There’s nothing worse than being average. Average is boring. Being really good is great to watch (for the quality), being really bad is great to watch (for the lack of it). Being average? That’s just being in purgatory. A fate worse than death.
And so, we arrive at Goblin Slayer. A nothing burger of a show. It being most notable for the rating being messed up the first day it was up on streaming platforms and, in my heart, for the main character of the show being the only thing CGI in it. Except, it’s not consistent. He randomly switches between being a CGI model superimposed, and not really blended well, into the 2D scenes or he’s traditionally animated. It could change from shot to shot in the same scene. This is more effort than the series deserved.
Berserk without interesting characters, memes, or redeeming qualities.
So, really, Berserk (2016). Except less fun because there’s no stock metal clang sound effect and Goblin Slayer manages, somehow, to have a higher production quality overall.
See, what’d I tell you about being average.
Verdict: Painfully average (and that’s being generous), skip

No Guns Life
No Gun No Li-uh, I mean, No Guns Life was a very fun Detective series.
A Noir plot in a futuristic, dystopian, city with likeable characters, an interesting art style, and decent word building.
Seeings how it took me the better part of two years to finish it after I started, expect to see the second season show up sometime in 2024 here.
(You’re a fool thinking this will be more than a couple of times before I stop doing these)
Verdict: Recommended, give it a shot

Monster Musume no Oisha-san
Horny, but, with CGI wheels on carriages. Which are, generally, blended into the scene better than in Goblin Slayer. And its, the CGI that is, not used on any of the main characters randomly. At least have some kind of consistency.
And sometimes CGI horse people. (But just the legs)
And always CGI faeries.
I dunno.
The spider is probably the best. (And also not CGI)
Verdict: Horny
Currently Airing
Oh hey, look, things that people may actually still be watching when you read this. It’s missing some things I was interested in watching going into the season. With this happening just at the beginning, there’s also not a lot to go on for where these series may end up.

Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san
Hey, that’s that girl that some random idiot that you’ve seen on the internet has as their avatar. Neat.
So far, the series is just as enjoyable as the printed material. (No, not that one) I was really concerned with the way Nagatoro’s VA could have sounded/been utilized when they released that teeny tiny voice clip on Twitter before the series began to air. For the time being, seemingly, my fears have been misplaced.
This is not a pass to put it into maximum overdrive. For the love of God.
Verdict: So far so good

NOMAD: Megalo Box 2
The modern day adaptation of Ashita no Joe rolls on. Keeping with the art style from the first season (downscaling to 720p before upscaling to give it a more retro look) if you enjoyed the first season, you’ll be right at home in the second one.
So far, it’s been a much more melancholy start than the bombastic first season, but, it’s still enjoyable. Joe, and the characters he interacts with, are still the main drawing point for the show. If you’re looking for just straight up boxing action constantly, this isn’t going to be the series for you.
Also, I think I dig the soundtrack to this second season over the amazing backing music the first season had. We’ll see if it holds, but, it certainly is digging out a nice sized place in my heart.
Verdict: Must see, unless you’re one of those weird people that holds AnJ on some kind of strange pedestal
Closing
So, that’s everything I’ve watched in this calendar year so far. At least, things that I watched more than just the first episode or two of. I’m never going to clear my backlog or even slightly make a dent on my in-progress. May the Lord have mercy on my soul.
One thing the last month or so has shown me, though, is I desperately need to get back to reading trash instead of just watching it.
Until next time(?)
